Squashed

The latest beer from the Brains Craft Brewery uses pumpkins grown in the vegetable garden of our local pub, The Tŷ Mawr in North Cardiff.

Squashed is a 4.3% ABV pumpkin beer brewed to coincide with Halloween and the prime season to harvest pumpkins. Two giant pumpkins grown in the vegetable garden of The Tŷ Mawr were roasted and added to the grist and the boil, along with a blend of cinnamon, nutmeg and allspice.

The Tŷ Mawr began cultivating their vegetable patch in 2011 to provide fresh and seasonal vegetables and herbs to the pub’s kitchen. They also grow their own hops which were used in our ‘green’ hopped beer, Green Dragon, and make

pickles and chutneys from fresh produce from the garden.

Graham, the manager of the Tŷ Mawr says; “A lot of hard work has gone in to preparing, cultivating and maintaining our vegetable garden here at The Tŷ Mawr. Not only is it great that we can say our herbs and vegetables were grown here in the pub, but we can also say we’ve had a hand in the beer on the bar too.”

Squashed will be available in selected Brains Craft Brewery from Wednesday 23rd of October. For a full list of pubs see www.brainscraftbrewery.com/findourbeer.
